Server Monitoring
We monitor our webservers via our own in-house developed application. It is running on an energy efficient (5V 300mA) small embedded device - a TINI platform from Dallas Semiconductor. Below you can find an actual picture of the device in operation (click for fullsize image):
The actual micro-PC is the SIMM board you can see on the picture. The big board below it is, essentially, just a port expansion (serial ports, 1-wire, canbus etc.).
Green
We use VPS servers as our production environments. Basing your production environment on VPS technology is a great tradeoff between power, features and energy consumption, it also provides excellent scaleability.
Our testing environments are run in virtual machines on our development machines. Thus we have no need of running dedicated testing environments.

ne1.net is a small Danish company. We own and operate a number of websites which are hosted on several rented VPS servers located in the US.
